That's great!

I'm a beginner in polymer clays... I was actually looking for information on where can I find polymer clays for makin g rubber stamps of my own and how to make them. I hope someone here can enlighten me. I really want to start making my very own stamps out of polymer clays... unfortunately, I can't seem to find a site that teaches me to. I found a site that sells machines to make stamps from your computer to a polymer clay stamp maker, but where do i get polymer clays when I run out of them. The ones they supply over the site is far too expensive.

I had the same problems with the Makins' machine. It clearly is intended for air-dry clay, not for polymer clay. It took too long to resolve this problem. Makins first asked me to try a replacement machine; I was reluctant because I suspected the problem is in the design of the machine, but I did agree. The second machine quickly developed the same problem as the first - severe rippling at finer settings, and I returned it. Makins had assured me they would resolve the situation to my satisfaction, but, now that I've returned both machines, they've emailed me to tell me there is no defect in their machine and they won't refund my money. Fortunately, I've already received my refund from my supplier, PrairieCraft, who have been helpful and professional throughout this process. The bottom line is that this machine, and its maker, have a disappointing record.

Thanks Rick!

I was wondering about how to fit the motor onto an older model, so your post really saved the day. While I'd rather not have to pay for the conversion set, at least I now know it's available and may give up hand-cranking someday soon.

Thanks again.

First, I want to thank you for this site. What a generous investment of time and energy in a free resource. I love polymer clay people!

I wonder how the Clearsnap moldable foam sheets do: whether it's possible to mold images deep and crisp enough to satisfy most polymer clay artists.

If anyone has experience with this and would care to share, I would very much appreciate it!

Hugs and best wishes to all you wonderful community-minded clay artists!

I have to agree on this book. It is one of the first ones that I have gotten and also one of the most helpful. I go back to it again and again because it does cover the basics. I was looking for a really good tute on ivory but went back to the one in this book and still liked it best. All in all, I would have to say Making Polymer Clay Beads is my favorite book.

Can you write an entry about possible gifts for the sculptor in one's life? My wife sculpts a lot of beads right now, and sometimes makes little people. She has a pasta machine. Is there another tool I could get her? A book? DVD? thanks!
